"I can't believe what a big change a few simple changes made"
Mum-of-two Liz Clark was inspired to start thinking about her family's health after she managed to quit smoking.
After receiving a leaflet from her local healthy living centre, Liz, 48, from Anderston in Glasgow, went along to one of the weekly health walks and has been going ever since.
"I was fed up sitting about the house not doing anything while my son Callum was at school. I like walking so I thought I would give it a try. We go for a walk once a week around the city and it lasts for about an hour. There's a group of us who do it and you just do it at your own pace. It makes you feel great.
"Now I've started going to an aerobics class with the rest of the women on a Friday too. I think it's important to let your kids see you doing things like this because they tend to do what you do. Now that I'm getting out and about more, Callum, who's 11, is too.
"He hadn't been on his bike for years and used to stay in with me, playing his Playstation. Now he's outside a lot more and he eats better too because I'm making up things for us to eat.
"I've got more energy and I enjoy my food more now. I used to eat take-aways and microwave meals most of the time, but now I make things myself and I've even started baking again, which I haven't done for years.
"The best thing about what I'm doing now is that I feel so much better. We both do."
